Druins! (part 10)

The next part! ohhh!

"Where’s dad?" Bekki asked absent-mindedly.
"Out of town again," Mrs. Fields grunted. She was suddenly chopping the vegetables a lot harder than she should have. Bekki winced, and was suddenly mad at herself for asking. Her mom had always gotten upset when her father went out of town more that once a week, which was pretty often. Her parents had been on rocks for ages and it was all Bekki, Trenton, and Genie could do to try to slow down what was coming. Bekki suddenly felt down, and her mom could defiantly tell.
"But that’s okay!" Mrs. Fields continued. Bekki gave her "I don’t believe it" look.
"No really, I’m shipping Trenton to his friend’s house on Friday, and we’ll have a Girl’s night out," Mrs. Fields shared. Bekki pretending she was choking and fell on the floor.
"Bekki, stop the dramatics!" Mrs. Fields scolded, but peering onto the floor she found Bekki sleeping soundly. She laughed and wondered why it took her so long. She normally always fell asleep about the same time as Tori did. She finished up dinner, and woke her daughter up.
"Eat and then bed!" Mrs. Field commanded. After a bit of groaning Bekki got off the floor, and grabbed a chicken sandwich as well as a salad. Genie and Trenton came down moments later, both still looking a little shocked and they ate. As soon as she was done she headed to bed and Genie took her chance. She quietly slipped in her room and searched Bekki’s side of the room for that stupid Druin book. She got to Bekki’s shopping bags and found the Druin book official bag. She knew that Bekki must have had the book at the mall and ran Bekki’s purse. She emptied it on the floor, and was sadly disappointed when all she found was a bit of cash, make-up, pens, and some weird walnut.
"A walnut?" Genie mouthed. She looked at her sleeping sister curiously. She turned back to the walnut, and looked for any clue as to why it might be in her sister’s purse. Then, she saw it. There were some shiny gold letters on the walnut. She grabbed a microscope from Trenton’s room, and put the walnut under it. After some adjusting she could finally read the words on the walnut.
"The Druin Book!" she yelped and them covered her mouth quickly in fear that Bekki would wake up.
"Now how do I open it?" Genie whispered to Bekki as if she would murmur the answer to her, and not ask why. Genie turned back to the book, and thought for a second. Duh! She grabbed the book and set it on the bed next to Bekki. She grabbed her sister’s hand and waved it over the book. It instantly grew, and Genie pulled the book in the bathroom. Her bedroom door had been removed after her first plan to kill Bekki, and a curtain was put up. The second time her plan had failed her curtain left. Genie turned back to the book and opened it to the enemy section.
"Do they have any phone numbers in here?" she yelled at the book. The pages of the book-starting turning until it finally stopped. A section glowed at the bottom of the page. She looked at the glowing section. It read:
Looking for the perfect place to execute a prank?
Try a Druin’s #1 enemy!
1234 Main Street Rating, VA
(555) 555-5556
"Perfect!" she marveled. She snuck downstairs and grabbed the house phone, sneaking into the bathroom again she dialed the number.
"Hello?" Genie asked.
The next day at school was like any other, but the romance between Tori and David seemed down a little. Bekki blamed herself. She decided to confront Tori about it next time she got to the bathroom, and sure enough during lunch she found her opportunity.
"Tori?" Bekki asked. Her voice was small and quiet. Tori jerked her head around. She had recognized her friend’s we need to talk voice and stopped what she was doing.
"Yeah," Tori smiled meekly. She had a feeling what this was about.
" Its all my fault!" Bekki cried, "Sorry." Tori wrapped her arms around her friend and then pulled away. She was now staring her friend in the eye with a look of understanding.
"What’s wrong?" Tori said briskly slipping into her I understand but its not worth it attitude.
"I asked you about David and now you don’t like him as much!" Bekki cried some more.
"God!" Tori scoffed, "You are so stupid! It’s not your fault, and even if it was its not like we broke up or anything. You have nothing to be sorry about!" Bekki lowered her head and walked out of the bathroom into the cafeteria and took her seat next to David.
"What’s wrong?" he asked. He looked genuinely upset that she had been crying.
"Nothing!" she murmured, throwing her hair behind her ear. He grabbed her hand. She didn’t believe he would believe her, but she couldn’t explain it to him or he would defiantly break up with Tori, and that was the last thing Bekki wanted. She suddenly had a strong urge to tell David everything, about her species, her lack of power, everything, but bit her lip. Tori walked over and David quickly dropped Bekki’s hand. Tori eyed David’s hand for a moment before sitting down, and starting a conversation with her friends.
"You mind if I sit here?" a voice came from behind Bekki. She turned in her seat to see one of the cutest guys she had ever seen.
"Unless it’s a bad time," he said taking note of Bekki’s now red eyes.
"Oh... no It’s okay!" she smiled and gestured for him to sit down. He walked to the other side of the table and took a spot next to Tori. David gave her a look from beside her. She couldn’t read it. Tori seemed oblivious to the fact that there was a newcomer and treated him like an old friend.
"I’m Bekki!" Bekki introduced herself.
"Jason," he introduced himself.
"David!"
"Theresa.... Call me Tori." Jason nodded and shook David’s hand. Jason had brown spiky hair, and green eyes. He was tall and pretty strong looking. He had on baggy jeans, a black shirt with a yellow smiley face on it, a pair of all white tennis shoes, an all black wristband, and a dog tag hung around his neck. The bell rang from above their heads. After turning in their trays they headed for class. Bekki and David ran off to Social Studies, David to Language Arts, and Jason had to finish his registration forms in the Library.
"I don’t think she likes me," David whispered.
"Who?" asked Bekki knowing very well whom he was talking about. David gave her sad eyes, and then turned his gaze to the floor.
"Of course she likes you!" Bekki sighed, "You guys have been friends since kindergarten."
"You know what I mean," David murmured. Bekki closed her eyes and prayed for a way out of the conversation she was having. Nothing happened. He looked at her again. His eyes were pale.
"I...." Bekki hesitated, "maybe... Maybe... Maybe she does." David sighed. Bekki swallowed and drifted her eyes to the floor. Davis followed suit.
"I’m sorry," he said softly. Bekki bit her lip.
"For what?"
"It wasn’t fair for me to ask you."
"Don’t be silly!" he heard her say. Her voice was soft, scared, and searching. He had a sudden urge to wrap his arms around her, but threw off the temptation and held the door open for her as she walked into 5th period. That night Bekki and Tori had an interesting IM conversation:

Firechick: Isn’t Jason so hot?
Luv2laugh: Tori!
Firechick: what?
Luv2laugh: you’re going out with David!
Firechick: so I’m not allowed to say he’s hot?
Luv2laugh: No!
Luv2laugh: Even though he is....
Firechick: So you admit it?
Luv2laugh: I never said I wouldn’t!
Firechick: lol
Luv2laugh: shut up!
Firechick: :-P
Luv2laugh: w/e... u no we can’t ever marry either of them.
Firechick: Yeah, well technically we could!
Luv2laugh: Our mothers would kill us!
Firechick: ok, maybe we can’t
Luv2laugh: Ur probably going to end up marrying Trenton!
Firechick: Never!
Luv2laugh: But he is one of the few Druin Trait characters.
Firechick: I no! But I don’t give a ****!
Luv2laugh: I no you don’t!
Firechick: I’ll marry a human if it kills me!
Luv2laugh: It will!
Firechick: I no!
Luv2laugh: lol!
Luv2laugh: have you ever noticed that we’re probably the only inter-species relations in the world?
Firechick: Isn’t that so awesome?
Luv2laugh: It’s creepy if you ask me!
Firechick: maybe... I g2g
Luv2laugh: bi!
Firechick: ttyl!

Bekki sat back in her chair, and closed out of the chat.
"That was unusually short!" she remarked to herself, "I wonder what she’s doing." She thought to herself about Tori. She was getting tired of thinking about her friend. She was about to walk out of the office when she heard yelling.
"You’re never home!" she heard her mother yelling, "Do you even CARE?"
"Of coarse I do!" her father’s voice thundered.
"Well you have one hell of a way showing it!" her mother shot back. She let go of the doorknob, and sat down in the office chair again. Her brother and sister slid in the room. Genie’s face had a large smile on it. Trenton looked like someone had just died.
"What’s with you guys?" Bekki smiled.
"If they get divorced I can move away with dad!" Genie sung, "Then I won’t have to be with you!"
"Shut up!" Trenton shot, "If they got divorced you know dad couldn’t take any of us!"’
"He’d take you," Bekki whispered softly. Trenton began softly crying, and Genie’s face darkened. They all knew it was true. Mr. Fields would never allow his son to live in a household full of women... even though technically he already did. Bekki threw her head in her hands. Trenton came over, and rubbed his sister’s back. The phone rang, and Bekki quickly picked it up. Trenton walked over to Genie and they pulled out a deck of cards.
"Hello?" Bekki questioned the phone.
"Um... Bekki?" a deep voice asked.
"Who is this?"
"Jason..." came the voice. Bekki’s heart did a double flip.
"How did you get my number?"
"Is that a bad thing?"
"No. Just curious."
"Oh...’
"Why did you call?"
"Oh right! I was wondering if the Spanish or German makes more sense to take."
"That’s an odd question!"
"I need to know!"
"Spanish!"
"Why?"
"I don’t know!"
"I need to know what coarse to take!"
"How did you get my number?"
"Bekki!"
"Jason."
"I’m going to come over if you don’t tell me!"
"You don’t have my address!"
"What makes you so sure?"
"Look now’s not a good time."
"Really?"
"Yeah... why?"
"Cause I’m already here."
"No you’re not!"
"Look out the window." Bekki opened up the blinds, screamed, and jumped back in suprise since Jason’s face was pressed against the window. Jason fell back laughing. Trenton and Genie took a hint, and left the room. Although, Genie looked like she really wanted to stay. Bekki opened up the window and crawled out to find Jason sprawled on the floor, laughing really hard! He raised his hand, and she effortlessly pulled him up.
"You’re strong!" he laughed. She joined in nervously and studied her hand. That should have been a lot harder for her. She shook her head, and slapped Jason, who was still laughing, upside the head.
"I told you Spanish!" she giggled.
"I know!" he answered, "I signed up already, but I wanted to hang out!"
"Then, you should go to Tori’s house!" Bekki pointed at a house kitty-corner from hers.
"She’s going out with David," he murmured hastily.
"So!" her voice trilled, "It’s not like your going to go out..." She paused realizing what he had just implied, "No! No! No! Absolutely not!" Jason laughed.
"It was worth a try!" he choked. She slapped him again, and he went sprawling on the floor. She stared at her hand. It wasn’t that she sent him on the floor. Sure, it was a little odd since she was no where near strong enough to push him over, but she hadn’t even touched him. Her hand had remained exactly 6 inches away from Jason all times.

Druins (part 9)

This one is the longest so far! And i was only going to write the beginning to this story. lol.

Meanwhile, Bekki was having a really hard time finding a pair of shoes she would actually wear. The store had a ton of really tacky running shoes, but their wasn’t much in the way of solid colors. She asked the sales person if they had any solid colored running shoes for the thousandth time, and for the thousandth time the salesman had brushed her off, and tried to talk her into buying the tackiest and most expensive running shoe they had. She finally decided that there was no way she would ever buy from this store, and left. She checked the nearest mall directory and to her dismay that was the last shoe store in the entire mall. She sighed and decided that she would just have to come back another day, but she didn’t necessarily have to go home. She smiled realizing she had the afternoon to her self and headed off to spend some cash at her favorite clothing store. After some good shopping she realized that the best place to get some gym shoes was probably in the Druin catalog. She headed towards the nearest bathroom, and when she had finally gotten a stall she pulled what looked like an unusually square walnut out of her purse. She placed flat in her left palm, and waved her right hand over the weird walnut. The walnut instantly grew, and it suddenly took the form of The Druin book. She looked up the catalog section in the book, and finding a perfect pair of shoes she pointed at the picture of them, and as if magic a hole appeared in the book. She stuffed in the appropriate amount of money, and her pair of shoes popped out of the hole.
"Can I have a bag to put these in?" she asked the hole. A few sounds later a paper bag popped out of the book. She threw the shoes in the bag and quickly closed the book. After returning it to its normal shape she stuffed it in her purse and left the stall, relieved that that awful chore was over. She decided to go home and left the mall with a smile on her face. When she got to her house the door was locked, and after a bit of knocking and nobody letting her in she went around back to climb up the ivy stem into her room. She had just climbed into the room when suddenly Genie came in. She was pulling David by his wrist.
"What are you doing here?" Genie asked she looked like she was about to blow up, "I thought you were at the mall!" Bekki shrugged.
" I got what I needed, so I came home but nobody would answer the door so I climbed up the ivy. I just got her!" she smiled. Genie cursed a bit and then left the room.
"She said she wanted to tell me something," David said looking after Genie storming down the hall.
"I'll bet she did," Bekki murmured to herself.
"What?" David asked clearly confused. Bekki rolled her eyes, gave the now dumb-founded David a hug and left the room. She could feel him following her, and she trampled down the hall to the master bedroom.
"Wh-" Bekki was suddenly stopped by David's hand over her mouth.
"It's okay!" Tori laughed, and throwing a shoe at David she added, "Now get to work you two." David looked as if someone had just told him that he had been wrong all these years and breathing was not a necessity. Trenton smiled at him.
"I calmed her down for you," he said matter of factly. Tori shot him a look and Trenton returned it. The foursome laughed, and got to work. They were about done when a little head popped in from the side of the door.
"Need any help?" Genie asked giggling as if she had just noticed they were cleaning, or that there was a mess in that room. Tori got up from her mess, and looked like she was about to slap her as hard as she did David, but to everyone’s suprise she gave her the biggest hug anyone had ever seen.
"You care!" Tori laughed.
"God!" Trenton moaned. Bekki elbowed him in the middle of his ribcage. He started to complain when Tori ran over and hugged him too. Genie was a stiff as a wooden board and seeing how stiff she was, Tori let go of Trenton.
"You okay?" Tori’s eyes grew big and she looked as if Genie had just died or something. She went over to Genie and shook her gently. Genie snapped out of her stiffness and began insulting Tori immediately. Tori rolled her eyes and threw a nearby shirt at Genie. Genie looked like she was about to tear up the shirt, and then she looked like she was about to fold it and put it away. After a moment she compromised and just threw the shirt on the ground. After about ten seconds she turned and left the room.
"What a suprise!" Trenton sarcastically added. Bekki was about to elbow him again when, as if he knew what was coming next threw his hand where she was going to elbow. Her elbow sunk harmlessly into his hand, and he grabbed it.
"Hey!" Bekki yelled. She sucker punched him with her other hand, and he looked amazed.
"You punched me!" he yelled. Bekki laughed.
"I think it’s an instinct," she cheered, and leaving him with his thoughts she grabbed the shirt Genie had dropped and put it away. Trenton recovered from his brief shock and went off to find Genie so they could talk about how weird Bekki and Tori could be. Tori, Bekki, and David finished up, and headed downstairs.
"Hey kids!" Mrs. Fields laughed as they entered the kitchen, "Y’all look tired. What have you been up to?"
"Nothing!" they chorused. Tori suddenly fell to the floor, and was asleep. Mrs. Fields and Bekki seemed unfazed. David looked slightly weirded out.
"Should we wake her up?" he asked, practically begging to be allowed to.
"Honey," Mrs. Fields began, "You won’t be able to even get her to stir for another five minutes." Bekki pulled him into a kitchen chair, and pulled out a pitcher of lemonade, stepping over Tori as she did so. They sat their, sipping lemonade and waited until Tori picked herself off the floor. When, she finally did he threw her arms around her, and the two skipped off. They claimed they had to study together.

Druins (part 8)

This is the next part! (Duh!)

"Hey Genie!" Tori smiled, "Can you come help me choose the snack I should make?" Genie grabbed her hand and skipped to the pantry. Tori gave David a we need to be alone look, and ran off claiming he needed to find Trenton.
"You’re going to try to tell him aren’t you?" Tori accused.
"What are you talking about?" Genie asked.
"You know perfectly well what I’m talking about!"
"I’d never even consider it!"
"But last time you two were alone"
"Just trust me okay!" Genie snapped. Tori rolled her eyes and was about to go to the closet when Genie’s voice called her back, "I heard the scary story you told Bekki last night!" Tori turned on her toes faster than a rabbit with a wolf behind her.
"I believe your story!" Genie continued. Tori gave her a suspicious look. Genie shrugged and slid past her to the pantry. She grabbed a bag of chips, and was about to grab a chip when Tori grabbed the bag from her.
"Do you believe my story?" Tori asked. Her eyes were searching Genie’s face for the answer.
"Yeah," Genie confessed, "Where is Dr. Druin’s lab?" Tori shrugged.
"I guess it would be in the Druin book!" Tori giggled. She was so happy Bekki believed her, and was oblivious to any plans that might be forming in her little evil head. Genie giggled at Tori, and skipped off to leave Tori eating chips mindlessly.
"Oh, Hey David!" Genie cheered as she left the kitchen, and David entered it.
"What’s up?" David asked. His eyebrows were furred and he looked troubled. Tori gave him a suspicious look, and assured him that nothing was wrong or the matter despite that she had kicked him out of the kitchen only a few moments ago. He went up and gave her a bear hug from behind.
"You can tell me," he murmured and kissed her on the cheek for the second time that day. She brushed him off and turned around.
"I’m telling you there’s nothing wrong!" Tori argued. David raised his eyebrows but accepted Tori’s complaint. Trenton entered the kitchen. His eyes grew wide when he saw David, and before David could tell him to go away Trenton had grabbed his arm, and was pulling him toward his room. Tori laughed and sat down to begin on her homework. Meanwhile, Genie was tearing up her parent’s room to find the big book of Druins, but it was no where to be found. She sighed, and walked out of the room slightly disappointed. She turned around and noticed the mess she had made.
"Tori!" she screamed.
"What?" came a reply from downstairs.
"Come here!" Genie yelled. The sound of footsteps came from the stairs, and Genie saw Tori heading up the stairs. Tori was about five feet from Genie, when Genie dashed down the hall, and left Tori standing speechless next to Genie’s parent’s room. Tori looked inside the master bedroom, and saw a giant mess of clothes, books, shoes, and other miscellaneous objects.
"GENIE!" she screamed. Two heads popped out of Trenton’s bedroom, but nothing from Genie’s room. The two guys walked out of Trenton’s room, and confronted boiling Tori. Her face was red, and she was shaking fiercely.
"Calm, Calm, Calm," Trenton nearly begged.
"You know what?" David smiled, "I’ll clean it up!" Tori shot him a glance, and slapped him on the cheek, hard. She turned and marched into the bedroom, and began cleaning. David shook off the slap, and rubbed his cheek. Trenton shook his head at David.
"What?" David asked.
"You never ask a girl if you can help when she’s that mad," Trenton chided. Davis looked bewildered. Trenton walked into the bedroom, and when David turned around to see Trenton and Tori shaking hands. Moments later Trenton and Tori were both cleaning. David was bewildered.
"Even I know that!" came a voice from behind David. He turned around to see Genie standing there, smiling. Davis looked stunned.
"We need to talk," she stated simply, and grabbing his wrist she pulled him down the hall to her room.

Peace, Kelsey
